What is the “courtesy indicator” in Spanish roundabouts?

In Spain, some drivers use what’s known as the “courtesy indicator” (intermitente de cortesía) in roundabouts — and it can help avoid accidents.
What is it?
It’s when a driver uses the left indicator while still going around the roundabout to signal that they’re not exiting yet.
Why use it?
To warn vehicles in the outer lane that you’re continuing inside the roundabout
To avoid being cut off by drivers who assume you’re leaving
It’s a sign of good awareness and consideration
Especially useful when:
You’re driving in the outer lane
There’s another vehicle in the inner lane preparing to exit
You want to avoid confusion or a side collision
Remember: Use your right indicator when you’re actually exiting the roundabout. The left indicator is only used as a courtesy to say “I’m staying in the roundabout”.
