Environmental Sticker Equivalency in the EU

Several countries in the European Union have developed systems to classify vehicles based on how much they pollute.
In Spain, it is not possible to obtain a Spanish environmental sticker (DGT label) for a foreign-registered vehicle — but the good news is: it’s not necessary in most cases.
If your vehicle is from a country that issues its own environmental sticker — such as
Germany,
Austria,
Denmark, or
France — Spanish authorities will automatically apply the equivalent Spanish classification.
You can check the official equivalency table [link opens in a new window] to find out the Spanish sticker your vehicle corresponds to.

Important:
These equivalencies only apply in Spain. They have no validity in other countries.
If you plan to travel to Germany, Austria, Denmark, France, or any other country with its own environmental label system, you must check their specific requirements — and whether you need to apply for a local sticker to drive legally there.
