Government Approves New Spanish Road Signs by N332 Insure

Effective from July 1, 2025
The Spanish Government has updated its official catalogue of traffic signs, adapting to today’s mobility, tech, and social needs.
The goal: a unified, modern, and inclusive signage system across the country.
Key updates include:
New signs for personal mobility vehicles (e-scooters, etc.)
Redesigned pictograms for better visibility
Removal of obsolete signs
Emphasis on sustainability and inclusive visual language
Given the overload of info drivers face today, the reform focuses on clear, direct, and universally understandable messages — following principles of the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals.
Among the most notable changes:
The “children ahead” sign now shows the girl leading
The steam train symbol has been updated to a modern train
Arrows now indicate slope direction (up or down)
New signs for electric vehicle charging
Dedicated car sharing lane indicators
Signs alerting to older pedestrians in the area
The reform affects vertical signs, road markings, and temporary signage.
Replacement will be gradual, coordinated with existing update cycles to save resources.
New signs will not appear immediately in driving license theory exams. There will be a minimum 3-month window post-implementation for training material updates.
In force from: July 1, 2025
Full removal of outdated signs required within 1 year
