Spanish Government Approves Update to the Official Road Sign Catalogue

The new regulation adapts traffic signage to social, technological, and mobility changes, introducing a unified catalogue that improves clarity and consistency across the country.
New signs are included to regulate emerging forms of transportation, such as personal mobility vehicles, and to address current traffic situations.
Pictograms have been redesigned, visibility improved, and outdated signs removed, with special attention to sustainability and inclusive visual language.
The royal decree will come into effect on July 1, 2025, but the physical replacement of signs will be carried out progressively.
The new signs will not be included immediately in theory exams, allowing time for manuals to be updated and candidates to prepare accordingly.
