White Lines — What You MUST Know!

Solid White Lines at Junctions:
A solid white line across a junction = mandatory STOP.
Longitudinal Solid White Lines (along the road):
No crossing
No overtaking
No turning across a solid line (ex: turning left forbidden)
You’ll often find these lines near junctions, roundabouts, or pedestrian crossings — and the rules are the same: NO crossing, no overtaking, no lane changing.
Double Solid White Lines:
Same rule as single: NO crossing
Used when traffic flows in both directions or reversible lanes.
BUT: If there are double white lines and the one on YOUR SIDE is broken, you CAN:
Turn left across the road (if safe and clear)
Exception — Overtaking Cyclists:
You may cross a solid white line ONLY to safely overtake a cyclist, when there is no oncoming traffic!
Chevron Markings:
Surrounded by solid white lines?
You MUST NOT cross into them either.
Important:
These rules apply to all vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and scooters.
