How the Pegasus Helicopter Works

Spain’s DGT uses the Pegasus helicopter to monitor traffic from the air, especially during busy periods like summer holidays.
What does it do?
Records video and takes high-resolution photos of vehicles
Tracks cars from 300 meters above the road
Equipped with two high-precision cameras:
One daylight camera for clear visuals
One radar camera that measures speed with pinpoint accuracy
It can detect:
Excessive speeding (even above 300 km/h)
Phone use at the wheel
Dangerous overtaking
Vehicles without insurance, license, or inspection (ITV)
All footage is recorded, stored, and used as legal proof to issue fines or penalties.
So remember: even if you don’t see a police car…
The eye in the sky is always watching.
