ITV Gas Emission Test – Do You Recognize This Machine?

This machine is designed to automatically measure the soot or gas content in the exhaust of combustion engines.

🔍 The ITV pollution test differs depending on your vehicle type:

* Gasoline ⛽

* Diesel 🛢️

Let’s break it down 👇

⛽ What’s Measured in GASOLINE Vehicles?

Gasoline cars go through a gas test where we check the levels of carbon monoxide (CO) — a dangerous gas created during the combustion process.

📊 This test tells us if the air-fuel mixture is correct.

❌ Too much CO = a faulty mix = more pollution

⚠️ CO is toxic, colorless, and odorless — it can only be detected using professional equipment.

🛢️ What’s Measured in DIESEL Vehicles?

Diesel vehicles undergo the opacity test, which measures how dark or grey the smoke from the exhaust is.

🌫️ The darker the smoke, the higher the pollution.

📅 Exemptions:

Vehicles registered before January 1, 1980 are exempt from this emissions check ‼️
