How the Pegasus Helicopter Works

Spain’s DGT uses the Pegasus helicopter to monitor traffic from the air, especially during busy periods like summer holidays.

📸 What does it do?

🎥 Records video and takes high-resolution photos of vehicles

🛣️ Tracks cars from 300 meters above the road

🎯 Equipped with two high-precision cameras:

One daylight camera for clear visuals

One radar camera that measures speed with pinpoint accuracy

⚠️ It can detect:

🚗 Excessive speeding (even above 300 km/h)

📵 Phone use at the wheel

🚫 Dangerous overtaking

🔍 Vehicles without insurance, license, or inspection (ITV)

💾 All footage is recorded, stored, and used as legal proof to issue fines or penalties.

🛑 So remember: even if you don’t see a police car…

The eye in the sky is always watching. 👁️
