Still unsure how to signal a breakdown or accident?
During this year 2025, you can still use any of the following 3 options:
The traditional emergency triangles
A basic V-16 flashing light
A V-16 light with geolocation
All three options are legal and valid until **January 1st, 2026**.
From **01/01/2026**, only the **V-16 geolocated beacon** will be accepted as a valid emergency signal 
This rule will apply **only to vehicles registered in Spain**.
Vehicles from other countries will still be allowed to use the devices permitted in their country of registration.
