Dealing with Tractors on the Road by @COYS RENT-A-CAR

During spring and summer, the presence of agricultural vehicles increases on the roads. Sharing space with them requires extra caution due to their size and low speed.
What are we talking about?
We say “tractors,” but we really mean a wide range of farm machinery:
Self-propelled: tractors, harvesters, carriers…
Towed: trailers, semi-trailers
Driving Rules Depend on Size & Speed
Up to 12m long, 2.55m wide, 4m high → LVA licence (from 16 y/o)
Bigger/faster vehicles → Require a standard B licence
Some of these machines can’t go over 25 km/h.
Where do they drive?
In cities: They can use the road as long as they don’t obstruct traffic.
In rural/interurban roads:
Smaller tractors (≤3,500 kg) use the shoulder
Bigger vehicles use the roadway, preferably right lane
Must display slow vehicle signs
Special Caution Required:
Other slow users also use the shoulder:
People with reduced mobility
Bicycles
Animal-drawn carts
Mopeds
According to experts like David Erice (UPA), one big risk is drivers not understanding how these vehicles operate or their limits, especially on narrow, poorly maintained roads in rural areas.
What should you do as a driver?
Be patient
Keep a safe distance
Check before overtaking
Overtake slowly and respectfully
Let’s all help keep the roads safer — for tractors and for everyone!
